For the more serious dancer, Dance Inspiration offers two competitive dance teams,
The Dance Co. and The Nebraska Pride Cloggers.
Both teams are available by audition only,
usually held at the end of August. Being a member of these groups provides the opportunity
to compete, travel, and perform. Dancers are exposed to national dance instructors, and
train at a much more vigorous pace than the recreational dancer, allowing them to progress quicker.
Although the competition teams are not right for everyone, there is a lot to be gained by being
a part of these companies. Learning how to function as a team, set goals, and work hard for
certain achievements are a few pluses, not to mention the great friendships formed.
Competing allows dancers to witness how far they’ve come, where they are, and where
they can go in the future. Lessons they can take with them throughout life.
The Dance Co. focuses on tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical aspects of dance.
It is offered for dancers ages 7-18 years old who are enrolled in two dance technique classes.
The Dance Co. meets weekly for rehearsals to learn the choreography for upcoming competitions.
Usually the season includes one regional qualifying competition and one national competition.
Along with the competitions, dancers are required to attend a dance workshop which allows them
to be exposed to new styles, choreography, and instructors. All interested dancers are encouraged
to audition, and everyone must audition in order to be considered for the team, including past members.
Nebraska Pride Cloggers is a group of three teams which learn, perform, and compete clogging routines. Minis (ages 6-9), Juniors (ages 10-13),
Seniors (ages 14-up). Members attend a weekly rehearsal for their age group where they work to learn and perfect their competition routines.
In addition to the competition we attend, small, local performance opportunities may also arise
throughout the season. Nebraska Pride members must also attend a clogging workshop which allows
them to learn new steps from national instructors. All dancers must audition to be considered for
the team, including past members.
